SUNS-OUT-GUNS-OUT MUSCLE TEE |CULTURE|

It’s hot! Summer-ize your tee by following these easy step-by-step instructions master pattern maker Heather Danila put together.

 DIY Men’s Summer Tank

  1. Pin Shoulder Seams Together
  • One at neckline and one at the end close to sleeve cap
  • Pull one sleeve into the other sleeve
  • Note: You will have to smooth out fabric and pin, actual stitch lines may not match up perfectly
  1. Pin Side Seams Together
  • One at the under arm and one at the body hem
  • Note: You will have to smooth out fabric and pin, actual stitch lines may not match up perfectly
  1. Marking Cut Line for the Front Armhole
  • Guide 1: Pin 1” away from sleeve towards neckline
  • Guide 2: Find midpoint of armhole and measure 1 ¼” away from sleeve towards neckline
  • Create curve to underarm about ¼” below actual stitch line
  1. Marking Cut Line for the Back Armhole
  • Guide 1: Pin 1” away from sleeve towards neckline
  • Guide 2: Find midpoint of armhole and measure 3/4”away from sleeve towards neckline
  • Create curve to underarm about ¼” below actual stitch line
  • Note: The back armhole will be slightly straighter than the front
  1. Cut!
  • Cut about 1/8” from pins giving the pins some space
  • You’ll need this space to clean up any jagged edges after laying flat
  1. Cutting Armhole
  • Make sure that you’re only cutting one side at a time
  • Start at sleeve underarm working your way towards the front neckline (*if you’re left handed cut the opposite way towards the back)
