DIY Women’s Racerback Tank
1. Pin Shoulder Seams Together- One at neckline and one at the end close to sleeve cap
- Pull one sleeve into the other sleeve
- Note: You will have to smooth out fabric and pin, actual stitch lines may not match up perfectly
- One at the under arm and one at the body hem
- Note: You will have to smooth out fabric and pin, actual stitch lines may not match up perfectly
- Guide 1: 3 ½” at center from neckline towards armhole
- Guide 2: mark or pin 5” from center front
- Guide 3: mark or pin 3” below center front neckline seam
- Create curve using guides towards underarm seam, about ¼” below stitch line
- Guide 1: measure 5” below center back line
- Guide 2: mark 1 ¼” from center back towards armhole
- Create curve pin underarm and neckline continued from front markings
- Note: Back armhole from underarm will be flat for about 2” and dramatically curve to guide
- Guide 1: measure 9” below marked underarm
- Guide 2: 2” below guide 1 pin same level at center front
- Create Curve using guides
- Guide 1: measure 9” below marked underarm
- Guide 2: 3 ½” below guide 1 pin same level at center back
- Create Curve using guides
7. Double Check your Curve Lines, it should look fluid
8. Cut!
- Cut about 1/8” from pins giving the pins some space
- You’ll need this space to clean up any jagged edges after laying flat
- Make sure that you’re only cutting one side at a time
- Start at Sleeve underarm working your way towards the front neckline (*if you’re left handed cut the opposite way towards the back)
- Start from center front working your way to center back
11.Take pins off and lay flat
- Check for jagged edges and clean
