York Athletics hung out with Cam Andrews, COO of Title Boxing Club Boston at this week's grand opening of the 338 Newbury Street location. After being involved with boxing for over 20 years, Cam left a successful career in finance to join the Title Boxing team. Four years later, he loves what he does and has never looked back. We asked him a few questions about fitness boxing, his mindset, and what is on his training playlist!
What inspired you to get into boxing fitness?
I have always trained and was encouraged to try TITLE Boxing Club by my friend and Head Trainer, Rod Shivers. After experiencing my first Power Hour I was so happy that a place existed where past, present and future fighters could train at a high level NON-STOP! When I was asked to join the team of trainers I jumped at the chance and I haven't looked back since. The passion I have for the sport and the high level of training that I personally engage in led me to become TITLE Boxing's first National Trainer and Head of Trainer Development. I live and breathe TITLE!!
How does having a fighting mindset help you with your day to day?
A fighting mindset keeps me "never satisfied"! It makes me welcome opposition and challenges and I love being challenged!
Aside from staying in shape physically, what do you do to stay in shape mentally?
I am a thinker by nature so therefore I am always studying. Studying history, business, my industry, sports, and health, anything that I would consider "useful knowledge". I try to rest, hydrate and pray.
We noticed at Title that you had your dog. What's his/her name?
That's Chloe! Affectionately known to all as "The Bear"!
Is there something about you that people would be surprised to find out?
Everyone is always surprised by my age.
What music do you listen to get yourself pumped up for a workout?
Straight Hip Hop! But I love Prince and Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam's "I Wonder If I Take You Home" always gets me jacked!!
Meet Cam and check out a class at Title Boston Club Boston's two locations near North Station or on Newbury Street. If you are not a Bostonian, Title Boxing Club is located in 35 states and two countries.
